It's been several years since the last real compensation industry scandal, so why do some people still see the whole thing as sordid?

Despite a self-regulating industry body and the incredibly-belated 'intervention' of the government (more on that another time!), the endless television and magazine advertisements about claiming still keep, what should be a noble and praiseworthy pursuit, on the borderline of sleaziness.
The theory is sound: if someone has been injured through the blatant neglect or carelessness of someone else and have been physically and financially inconvenienced - then the idea of a solicitor taking the case on without charging their injured client a penny and getting their situation re-balanced seems perfectly reasonable. But, when you hear that £50-£100 of your insurance premium goes toward fraudulent claimers and things such as whiplash ... suddenly the idea falls from grace.
Sadly, it's one of those situations where we are still better off with the compensation system than without it. If only the industry's regulatory body (the MOJ) could do as good a job of monitoring the compensation arena as well as, say, the the FSA did monitoring the financial industry. (That's a little joke ...)
Anyway, we can't vouch for the 100% sainthood of the firms listed on this page, but we do check that they are not without credibility. Note: always pick prudent, professionalism individuals ... or Pick PPI for short ... wait ... forget that ... (sorry, it's been one of those days where I need to amuse myself a little)
