A proven method of increasing traffic is to submit your website details to a relevant category within a web directory. This not only means that people can access your website from there, it also means you may get backlinks from other sites that have accessed our pages and noticed your great resource.
The problem when you add a URL to a general listing is that it can be too generalised. People may not have the time to go through pages of a directory's search results and look for a particular category amongst broad subject listings. Instead, they may prefer to search a directory that is focused on a particular topic.
You may well add your web site details to a financing category within a business directory. However, it may make more sense to instead (or as well) include it within one or more finance directories like this one. The advantage of this approach is that people who access one are more likely to be looking for what you are offering and so you will get visitors who are targeted at your particular products or services. These visitors can also search the directory to get results that are relevant since they exclude those that would appear in a more general directory and will only produce finance links.
A directory of this type will often operate as a finance link exchange and so is willing to exchange links with any site that has relevant content. However, whilst you will need to create a link to our directory on any page of your site before you submit a site to the directory, it is not mandatory for you to keep that link up - it is mainly for verification purposes so we don't get spammed by thousands of SEOs. Directories of this type may be very narrowly focused or may be general money directories that have varying categories covering different aspects. The advantage of this one-stop shop approach is that visitors can access several categories for related services. Thus, a potential house buyer can access a realtor link to view available properties, loan links to obtain a mortgage and other finance and insurance links to arrange insurance cover on the property. We try to fit in to this mould.
Aside from the generalised type of financial directory, there are more specialised versions such as real estate directories that list properties for sale and to rent, finance and mortgages, landscaping contractors and so on. A real estate directory may also operate as a real estate link exchange so you can establish reciprocal links between your site and the realtor directory - though be warned that seeking out such can be difficult as such businesses tend to stick together quite close in their respective market.
Various other permutations and combinations are possible, so you can subscribe to a specialist loans directory if it's the type of service you provide or to an insurance link exchange to establish an insurance reciprocal link with the directory and similar sites. The more niche the better when it comes to linking.
It's mainly a question of fitting in with what's suitable and which will generate the highest volume of relevant traffic. In any case, you need to be sure that the directory is likely to attract a lot of visitors. Many try to do this by being topical, posting regular news articles, advice and information, running blogs and forums that will keep people coming back on a regular basis (like we do!). If your site does this and you satisfy our criteria, such as your site being about finance, add URL will be permitted into the relevant category and should ensure increased traffic of the required type.
