The Co-operative group is a consumer cooperative which was formed in 1844 and has a diverse range of retail businesses. The Co-operative group is owned and run by its 8 million memebers and is the UK's fifth largest food retailer. The Co-operative runs a number of services including 450 travel agencies, 800 funeral homes, legal services and the Co-operative Banking Group which is made up of Co-operative Insurance and Co-operative Bank. Co-operative Insurance covers car, home, van, pet, life and health.

The Co-operative offer 50% discount on contents insurance when it's taken out on a joint buidings and contents policy. Building insurance covers the cost of rebuiding up to £500,000. You also received accidental damage cover for underground pipes, drains and cables and outbuildings such as garages and greenhouses are also included.

Co-Operative contents cover includes new for old replacement as standard, On top of this you receieve £2000 cover for items in outbuildings, £5000 for office equipment and also £500 cover for visitors belongings. There is also the option of coosing from 4 levels of high risk item limits (£6,000, £9,000, £12,000 or £15,000) maning you can tailor your policy to your needs by choosing the adequate level of cover for your valuables.
