14/09/2010 aviva are a totalwaste of time been waiting 3 months for payment due to person crashing into me and they admitted it to aviva
14/09/2010 aviva insurance asked for a quot and what the cancelletion fee would be got told that they would owe me twenty four pound eleven pence and got a quote for a corsa 1.2 for a 17year avivathere nuts the quote came to yes you read it £9,000 pounds and cancelled my poliucy now i owe them £69.00 cancellation fee and the cover upto when i cancelled i suggest that there the biggest insuranc con of all never insure with these again
13/09/2010 I have been trying to sort out my no claims discount with them for days now. Numerous phone calls later it is still not sorted! Nobody is able to help me with any enquiries, or answer why they have posted me a letter demanding I contact them. They either tell you they cannot call you back, or when they claim they will you hear nothing. Their customer service advisors just read off a screen and seem to have no actual knowledge of what they are dealing with! I keep being told to call them back at particular days/times to speak to someone in the know, to just repeat the whole process again. I am just lucky my credit card company are now involved and will be getting a refund on my behalf!
09/09/2010 Aviva and Crawfords - Neither care about the customers. I recnetly had my rucksack stolen at a festival. Within my buildings and contents insurance I pay for contents away from home/baggage cover!! This evidentally isn't worth it. How can you prove what was in your bag, let alone have receipts for every item of clothing, trainers etc. It's made me realise how much they rip us off - charge for this cover to give us peace of mind then when you need to claim they treat you like a criminal and won't pay out. And why do I have to pay £60 excess for replacement locks at home then £60 excess for my bag contents claim when it's same policy and the keys were in my bag. I feel like I need another crime number for what Aviva are doing.
09/09/2010 O my god!! Now i'm really worried my son is with Aviva for his bike and was knocked of by a car other day, it was the car's fault, my son was injured broken hand ect, so god knows how he will get on with all that, turns out that when he got documents out mot ran out 2 days before accident! guess no chance of any help hope or sypathay from them judging by all what i just read!
07/09/2010 I have my car insurance with Avive and never again. I had a small accident in my new VW Scirocco which required it to have a new bonnet and bumper they insisted it went to their own repair shop, i asked about the cars paint and rust warentee from VW and was told my warentees would not be affected. after the car was repaired the paint started peeling off so i took the car to a VW garage and was told that my warentees were invalid now, so i phoned Avive and was told that they take over the warentee from VW which is not what i wanted to hear at all. i have phoned Aviva on many ocasions over the last 3 months to resolve the issue and have had to explain it every time i phone only to be kept on hold, transfured to an indian and then cut off!!
29/08/2010 A teenage boy spun his tires at a convenient store splattering rocks at my parked car. He chipped my paint down the drivers side as well as the engine bonnet. He was confronted immediately. He apologized and offered to have it repaired. For the next month he kept dodging me. So I decided to put it through his insurance. We both had Aviva Insurance. After sending Aviva photos of the spin marks they wanted to speak to the five people who witnessed it. Then they requested e-mails from them. After two months of phone calls with Aviva a decision was made. They decided they wouldn't pay for the damages because I couldn't prove that the boy's actions were intentional. How dumb is that! Screw you Aviva! I'm pulling out all insurance policies with u
20/08/2010 The customer service department is utterly utterly pointless. I have been trying to prove my no claims bonus for five days. I have been reduced to tears.
16/08/2010 Was insured by Norwich Union Direct for years & very happy. [sentence removed]* Their on-line system either doesn't allow you to register you policy at all or when it does, you cannot re-access the account. On renewal, premium was significanly higher than previously - even though no claim (except a w/screen) had been made. Went to Direct Line in the end however my woes with Aviva are not over. They will not confirm the exact level of NCD - will only state 5 years or more. We have 10 or 11 years and on my Direct Line proposal I said 6. Because Aviva are saying 5 or more Direct Line have taken this as 5 and increased the premium. No amount of pressure will make Aviva give actual NCD!
09/08/2010 Moved to Aviva in June big mistake. They are the most useless fir,m I have ever come across, the customer service is terrible,I have been waiting for a confirmation letter for 5 weeks I keep phoning, it takes about 15 minutes to get through, then they put out you on hold and then...you get cut off. And trying to do the correspondence by email is even more difficult, it seems that once you have paid your premium for the year they don't want anything to do with you after.
09/08/2010 My car was shunted when parked in a car park. I called Aviva to make a claim, the response was excellent and I was promised that there would be no excess, the car would be collected for repair and I would have a hire car delivered. Unfortunately, non of this happened. The garage insisted on £250 excess payment before they would look at the car and we have still not been reimbursed 8 months later. Like your other comments, no response from e mails various promises on the telephone that don't transpire.
09/08/2010 a positive review for aviva,? um ,na,o,hang,on yea!,they are quick to take your money, yea, and quick to charge you if your payment is late,so there are some on the ball workers within the company
06/08/2010 I have worked for Aviva, and let me tell you that management treats the employees worse than they treat the customers. They have an ethos of mismanagement and abuse. They have all these wonderful theories of how we are supposed to be treated until you need it enacted. try and get hold of anyone in HR and you are met with dumb, badly trained managers, who do nothing to help you. The top brass are badly qualified for the jobs, and in some cases there due to their sleeping partners. how this company is surviving is beyond me!
05/08/2010 I was victom of a bulgary back in October 2009, its now August 2010 and im still no further to resolving our case. Our insurance is Barclays which is actually Aviva(unbeknown to us), who then pass it out to Crawfords. Crawfords are terrible, lack of manners to even update you on whats going on. We provided them with all the receipts for our belongings which were taken only for them to lose them. They are forever fobbing us off and its a total lack of customer services. Called Aviva to find out what the complaints procedure was only for them to let me to contact Crawford?! its them we're paying! Would not recommend Aviva unless you dont want your things back.
02/08/2010 just tried to cancel my health insurance simple you might think. not with aviva i have to send a letter then wait for them to send me one back. an excellent set up... not!
26/07/2010 Hi I'm the Managing Director of a Renault Bodyshop, and have recently come across a really nasty little "extra" on the Aviva 7-Day driveaway policies. A customer took delivery of a used Renault Modus from the sales dept using the 7-Day policy, and unfortunately had a bit of a bump on the 5th day. She notified them of the accident and asked for us to repair the car as we were the Renault Approved Accident Repair Centre. They said "its up to you, but if you use your own choice of repairer, your policy excess increases from £400 up to £600. This only came to light when she registered the claim. Apparently its in the smallprint of the handbook which arrives after the 7 days are up! Absolutely disgusting, keep away from AVIVA
08/06/2010 They have now had our vehicle for 11 weeks in their body repair shop. They keep giving timescales then missing them. It's now out of MOT and the insurance is due soon. It's simply a joke. If my partner reinsures with Aviva, I'm leaving him!
07/06/2010 Never bought a policy with aviva, had a quote for car insurance, several hundred pounds higher than any other quote i got, and have now been bombarded with emails telling me my quote is still valid. Have had 3 in 24 hours!!
31/05/2010 31/5/2010.insured my subaru wrx sti type uk with aviva and had a misshap in the bad weather back in feb.i slid off the road down an enbankment and got the car stuck,i managed to get car back onto the road and drove it home.the front drivers wheel was badly scuffed, getting car home and on the drive to inspect it.i washed the car off and asked my girlfriend to open garage to put car in she waved for me to stop the car.it was only then that i new of this awfull noise comming from under the bonnet.the car was fine and had just had a major service.aviva said it was a mechanical failiur and the rejected my claim.if in doubt leave aviva out get insured elswhere.they even returned my car to somone else house and put the keys through there door
25/05/2010 I have been waiting for 5 weeks for a claim on my TV being accidentally broken. Being a right off I expected a replacement. Still waiting and they made out in a letter to me that I lied about the cause of damage to the engineer when he called but the problem with that is I was at work at the time. Thinking of taking the letter to Citizens advice for possible defammation of character claim.
24/05/2010 ask why they would rather attend court at least 5 times now as to why they wont pay my husband his pension
24/05/2010 I would like to warn anyone thinking of dealing with aviva. I had car insurance with norwich union which i was please with but when it changed to aviva it was absolutely terrible. They put premiums up greatly when they feel like it. They are rude and intimidating and canot speak the english language properly so you can NEVER understand what they are saying how these people ever get employment in this country I can never know.I have been driving 35yrs and they are the worst company I have ever dealt with.
17/05/2010 Absolutely appaled at their dreadful customer service. This company, being the 5th largest in the world, have quite clearly lost their way. They are now too big, too profitable and quite clearly don't care about policy holders.
10/05/2010 I recently took out car insurance with Aviva & needed to prove my NCD. At their request I sent them the original renewal quotation document from my last Insurance company which shows my NCD status. 2 weeks later I phoned to request the return of my document but was told that they hadn’t received it and to send them an electronic copy, which I did. 1 week later I phoned again to check that all was in order but was told that I still hadn’t proved my NCD entitlement. At this point I decided to lodge a formal complaint & was told I would be contacted by phone within 48 hours.10 days later I still hadn’t been contacted. Then I received another letter saying because I had not provided NCD proof my premiun may rise. What is the matter with them?
05/05/2010 Just reading some of the comments I can only confirm the appalling service from the Aviva car claims handling team. It has now been 8 weeks since my car was stolen by thieves who broke into my house to take the keys. I had two cars stolen and have already received a settlement from AXA for my other car. I have been leaving voice messages for the claim handler for weeks but there has been no response. To make matters worse I am still paying for the car which was stolen as it was on lease.
30/04/2010 6 years motor insurance with these people, they keep telling me i have the max 5 years no claims bonus however i have been paying the same each year for 6 years , some years my premium has actually gone up. i tried to claim for some damage to my car today , £300. they told me my premium would rocket up by more than £500 pounds and i would lose my no claims bonus , the bonus that they have not been giving me. i will be cancelling and using adrian flux , my partners insurance company.
25/04/2010 Aviva customers be warned if you dont have both sets of keys to your vehicle you are not covered by your policy
25/04/2010 First they included a wrong address on my policy. I pointed this out to them but they still sent the settlement cheque to it. They initially agreed to send out a replacement, but then refused to without me proving that I'm not impersonating myself. First they wanted a letter, which I sent. They changed their mind, and said that wasn't adequate and wanted to talk to me on the phone, which we did. They then changed their minds again and are demanding a 2 hour face-to-face interview! They know I'm working abroad and can't do it (which I suspect is why they are demanding it). I have spoken to so many people in their complaints system who all blame everyone but Aviva.
12/04/2010 I was driving my car home on 17 Nov 2009 and at a crossroads the driver in front rolled back into the my car I got his details mobile etc. We spoke on the phone and he agreed it was his fault. Spoke to my insurance Aviva every week since always speak to someone who is Indian and I cannot understand what they say. They said they are waiting for the 3rd party to admit liability. They said if I go and get my car repaired my protected no claims would be affected and they would take a couple of years off. I have never had an accident and I am 39 years old. Aviva are cowboys. They never phone back. Never write. Be warned. I am going to contact trading standards as I think they make up they're own rules. My car is still not fixed.
03/04/2010 I've just cancelled my Aviva car insurance policy, their online help is neither use nor ornament, I was in a telephone queue for 15 mins, when I finally got to speak with someone he put me on hold for another 15 mins before cutting me off. Exasperated I called back and finally got to speak to a very helpful lady but went on to cancel my policy anyway - the process wasn't clear, things were missed off my policy that I wanted i.e. insuring my no claims discount, to correct theses errors was going to cost and incur admin charges - their claims of 2 free months is nonsense, they turned out to be the most expensive quote and the poorest policy
02/04/2010 Got a quote on line went with it when the documents arrived in post gone up 37.25.emailed no ans. try and call tomorrow. will keep informed
23/03/2010 My wife had her glasses broken. We took photograpgs & took them to 3 indipendant opticians for written quotations.Dispite this I was given the "third degtee" by their insurance assessor who questioned me about claims I had NOT made .They have refused to pay for shipping the glasses back to the assessor
21/03/2010 Do not insure with AVIVA as they pass on the claim to thier loss adjusters Cunningham Lindsay. They offered me a cash settlement for my contents insurance which was only 55% of the claim. When I refused and asked for replacements, they got aggressive and asked for manuals and proof of purchace for everything even though the contents were being held in storage at the time. Obviously a cash settlement is a lot less work for them than replacement. I was forced to settle for 65% in the end and I cancelled all my policies with them.
21/03/2010 Do not insure with AVIVA as thier claims handling is truely awful. I was left homeless for 9 months due to a fire next door. I stayed with a friend for the first few weeks as a temporary arrangement and when I had to move on I phoned Cunningham Lindsay the loss adusters for alternative accommodation. It took me 2 days to speak to someone as they could not be bothered to answer the phone and the person I needed to speak to was in a "meeting". When I finally spoke to someone thier attitude was sort it out yourself with no offer for paying for it. As I could not afford to pay for B and B for weeks on end I ended up sleeping in the car for a couple of nights. When I phoned AVIVA to complain all I got was it is nothing to do with them call CL
20/03/2010 Dont use this company website is full of errors and still cannot dowmload my documents for my spouses car!I regeret having insured her car with them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS I ll stick to my slighly more expensive car insurers who I have been with for years..thank god i didnt accept their qoute even saveing the quote was not successful
20/03/2010 I contacted Aviva by email to clarify a point within their car insurance quote (their online registration recognition system does not recognise my registration number). After sending an email, they sent an automatic email back saying "due to high traffic volumes..etc" and that it would take 3 days to reply. On 4th day, and no reply, I sent an email again and received the same autiomated reply back. I have tried to call them but the customer services cannot deal with my query as it is technical and not a sale (at the moment). Looks like they do not want to talk to me, so I will just have to take my £300 policy elsewhere. Very sad.
14/03/2010 I obtained building insurance from Aviva I asked to send me written Quote sent to me I was told takes about 10 days so far n0thing has happened I tried to get same Quote online I was told unable to provide
14/03/2010 I have insured my home online with Aviva but cannot access the account in order to renew the cover. They offer a good price but make it so difficult to do. I know the user name, but the page for resetting the password just locks up. I tell them about this but do they respond? What's more their website offers instant chat help when it isn't available. How can they be trusted to protect my largest investment?
11/03/2010 I purchased car insurance from Aviva on the 2 March to commence 12 March 2010. To date (11 March) I've not been able to download my documents and the customer service is non existant. Brian Petty
10/03/2010 I tried to renew my car insurance via your automated service, what a load of rubbish. I eventually had to ring to get an advisor to do it for me. I used to have no trouble with sending a chegue to Norwich Union. Whats go wrong? I have car and breakdown as well as Home insurance with you. I hate to be kept waiting to speak to someone, it took 20 minutes to contact you. I think you should look at better ways of re-insuring policies.I have been with both companies for many years. so please get it sorted. Bryan Clark
06/03/2010 Woeful service - happy to take your money to being with, but impossible to contact after that! Customer "service" seems to be non-existent.
24/02/2010 "Hi I work for Aviva, and if anyone would like me to I'll investigate the issues that they are having. I'm sorry that you feel you need to post here instead of contacting us. Thanks Becca" Are you joking?, have you 'read' any comments? people are SICK of calling India, SICK of being told "so & so's just left the office, i'll get him too call you back".. need i ad, that you can wait MONTHS & so & so will NOT ring you back! we're not posting here INSTEAD of contacting you, we are posting here to warn others of your sheer uselessness Becca (who are you insured with?)...
21/02/2010 cancelled insurance with aviva i was told i would have to pay £135.50 for what i said no way the advisor then went to the supervisior came back then had te cheek to say it was £84.50 why do they ask for a canceltion fee i refuse to pay they are the most expensive company when i looked for quotes told them to send it to a debt collection agency i have 3 yrs no claims beware this company is a ripoff you have been warned posted buy paul
16/02/2010 On Nov 7th 2008 (my birthday) we were involved in a road accident which has left the left side of our car badly dented and scratched. The guilty party on this incident was the driver of an ambulance and has pleaded as such. Our car is still not fixed!!! We have phoned time and again to sort this out but are constantly speaking to advisors who don't speak good English and stick to the same script NO MATTER WHAT. We finally spoke to a British advisor who told us that they are not chasing this situation because Aviva has nothing to gain from it. Have you ever heard anything as ridiculous as that? I would never put Aviva's name forward to anyone except to warn them about how bad Aviva are.
16/02/2010 i work for an insurance broker & dont have many issues with Aviva/NU. I find most people who go Direct do have problems because they dont read the policy properly & just expect everything to be covered. Insurance is complex , you have to read these things carefully , take advice from professionals.
15/02/2010 I have just spent nearly an hour discussing the high renewal quote when I had been a loyal customer of N Union Direct for years. Was told I had insured 2 cars last Feb and been given an introductory price for new car. I had in fact changed cars and the bloke told me I had given an untruthful answer and wanted to knowwho was using my no claims discount! which sent me ballistic! I wanted to know where was my no claim bonus and was told I could use the previous policy details on a car I no longer own as proof for quote elsewhere but I could not be allowed any more reduction for this policy! I never had issues with Norwich Union. I have therefore now only got a year no claims discount
12/02/2010 I have had my contents insurance with Norwich Union / Aviva for at least 15 YEARS! Call me stupid, but I assumed that when my house caught fire on 13th December 09, my loyalty might even give us some extra swift processing. INSTEAD... we have been treated with nothing more than contempt by AVIVA and worse by their appointed firms of loss adjusters, 'Cunningham Lindsey' who have to be the most disorganised company on the planet. We live in Lincoln, our claim somehow started in Glasgow, moved to Cardiff, and now Leicester! I have tried to follow complaints procedures with both but to no avail. I am so p'ed off, I am going to every single review site, blog, twitter on the planet!!
10/02/2010 AVIVA Home & Contents Combined insurance is one to AVOID. AVIVA do not deal with your insurance claim. They pass your details to Crawford RepairNet who then pass them to Crawford Property in Belfast who then pass them to a contractor. No one takes ownership of your claim and trying to get someone to call you back is a waste of time. Damaged Gutters and Conservatory on 12.01.10 and to date no further forward. Refused claim for Gutters claiming frost damage when it was in fact solid ice which damaged and brought part of the gutter down. Disputed this and quoted policy wording but not getting anywhere. AVIVA don't want to know.
04/02/2010 aviva client crashed into my car in august this year(got his written stetment which i forwarded to my insuer)car has been fixed my insuer axa is trying to contact aviva sine september 09 no answer till date. no respond for mails reaching calcentre imposible! can anyone help?
