14/09/2010 i was more the one year and i sold my car. i told them that i have concel my policy but they told me to pay 250 so i think they do unfair
13/09/2010 Oh dear, these complaints certainly concur with my recent experiences. I do not feel that charging customers a third of their annual policy is appropriate for cancelling a policy. Not even sure the FSA or OFT would agree that this fair or legal? Like many others here, I will certainly not entertain this insurance company again nor any of it's derivatives that crop up (hope there are not any).
24/08/2010 unable to get policy document to print off from their on line link, decided would report this problem to budget insurance, but hey what a surprise, - no e mail address! phoning them not a chance, which dept, that dept, this dept, just well chat to the cat! - Wont ever insure with them again..........
07/08/2010 I found them to be terrible as I always paid my home insurance on time. Then someone said why was I paying £24.34 a month for just contense insurance so I shopped around now Im paying just £11.25 a month.I gave Buget one months notice and they gave me a bill for over £100.00 for canceling what a bunch of crooks.I will NEVER deal with them again and I was with them for over 6 years thats customer care for you.PS I am also NOT giving them £100.00 as I did give them notice.
28/04/2010 I have been insured with them for 2 years with the same car (1.6 Astra), I recently sold the car and needed to borrow a family members car for a few weeks. When I contacted them the told me the underwriters wouldnt insire me on it ( a 1.1 suzuki wagon R )! so ended up on family members insurance. I assumed it was because i didnt own the car. I have now bought another car (1.8 Astra) and they STILL refuse to insure me, the only option I have is to cancel my existing policy which will cost me £100 and they can insure me with a different underwriter. The only thing that has changed since they first insured me is more no claims and im a little older, i have never made a claim before and hold a full clean licence !
31/03/2010 Avoid Budget Insurance at all costs. Although the initial cost is low compared to other insurance companies, they make their money back by charging silly amounts for altering the policy and cancellation. Very bad customer service; kept on hold for ten minutes 0844 number. With these people you get what you pay for.
22/02/2010 Having spoken to a call centre staff member who could not have been any more unhelpful I will not be using Budget again. Even if it meant saving a bit of money Im not prepared to utilise a company who's staff appear to do their best to try and be as condescending as possible. I only wanted to change my vehicle details but this turned out to be a lengthy and expensive affair. Roll on September when my policy year expires whereby I will be being saying goodbye to Budget forever. I should know by now that you only get what yoy pay for.
20/02/2010 I am very disappointed with Budget car insurance. I wanted to cancel my policy for a car I have just sold and they want a £35 cancellation fee and £70 as I am leaving early - I have already paid £115 for my policy and the total premium was only £230! I asked to transfer it to another car so they offered me a premium of £395 for the year with £100 excess, or £383 for a £300 excess. Guess I'll have to take the hit on cancelling...
28/01/2010 Smart people budget are a bunch of crooks, A had to cancel insurance, so phoned them. The 'customer service' rep. Was to say the last snotty, And they want £91 for the for the cancelation. They have lost a customer for life, I hope they go bankrupt.
25/01/2010 a customer for 8 yrs now being charged over £200 for a cancelation. never had a claim good business ?
10/11/2009 i have been with budget a few years and im not happy you never answerd a complaint my insurance has gone up and you took my money for renewel and in sept and you havent even sent my paid insurance paper my car tax due end nov please ring me asap
30/07/2009 Mixed reviews here, so thought I'd add my own experiences. Had car insurance with Budget for a couple of years now. I had one claim which was handled very well and courteously. Could not fault them. Since I had "no-claims-bonus-protection" it did not affect my payments. Now I have also switched my home insurance to Budget also and saved again. So far so good..... Gerry
12/07/2009 Unable to find a valid email address for Budget Insurance.I do not want to phone them on the costly 0870 numbers that they list. The savings that i made tonight(13/07/2009)buying home insurance online, would soon "be lost".Geoffrey Elliott.
07/05/2009 I would not recommend Budget Insuranc to my ex wife
28/02/2009 we have been waiting on the phone for 1 hour; is this the way to treat customers?
27/01/2009 I have just discovered Budget insurance continued my monthly direct debit for a year after the policy ended I never gave a signiture or verbal confirmation that I wanted the policy to continue and as far as I am concerned have never recieved a certifcate of motor insurance however they will not refund me because they claim they sent the renewal pack stating I had to let them know I did not want to continue!! Surely companies need signatures or verbal word I can't see how this works?
13/01/2009 I came to Budget via confused.com. They have just saved me 120 on my contents + buildings cover, and it's with Allianz insurance whom I'm confident will give good cover. I need to double check the small print before paying, but so far so good.
27/12/2008 I have just changed my car and rang Budget to let them know. They charged me £25 for this. I have had car insurance for over 38 years and never once been charged for someone to alter details on a computer followed by a letter! As if car insurance is not dear enough they add on this little gem. I wont be going back to Budget!
15/10/2008 The front page of the site claims that Budget can save you up to £123 off home insurance, but the small print reveals that this only applies to 10% of consumers - not sure this really justifies the claim. Their form is badly designed: there were a few fields that I didn't notice and their questions were not clearly phrased. They ask whether the property residents are working, unemployed or asylum seekers, which is not usual. After I went through all their questions, Budget wouldn't give me an online quote and didn't explain why - this has not happened to me before. I was not impressed.
12/08/2008 I was a little perplexed and even put off by the site. There were strings of words such as "Cheap home cover" and "Other great value products", but when you clicked on them you were always taken to the home page. I also was confused by being thrown off the budgetinsurance.com website to insure-systems.co.uk when I wanted a quote, even though the Budget branding and colours remained. Every day I get those "you must log into your bank account for security check-ups now!" junk mail things where you end up looking at what appears to be your own bank's website but it's not - so why would an insurance company think people would feel secure when they see their browser bar changing just before you're asked for your personal details?
07/06/2008 Is it just me or are sites like these looking outdated? I was just on and it said something like "we'll search 20 insurers and you could save up to £160" for car insurance. But then you go to one of the modern comparison sites and they've got triple the number of insurers to search and quote double the savings. With online comparison sites is anyone going to be using smaller brokers anymore? I know I'm not.
