13/09/2010 Dissappointed, frustrated, angry!! the worst customer service in the uk bar none, I have been waiting 8 weeks for a certificate of no claims to be sent to me and i still havent received despite being told it was sent 2 weeks ago, rang up kept on hold for 2 hours then cut off!! emails sent requesting a phone call from someone in their customer sevice department completely ignored and i havent even got to the quote for my new car( went from a 1600 to an 1800 Insurance quote Doubled ( yes doubled) from approx 350 to 600+!!!! ( note all these insurance companies owned by banks that the taxpayer had to bail out now reapin the money back !!!) scandalous!!!
07/04/2010 They have sent me a renewal quote, which is 20% more expensive than my current policy with them. I have even accumulated a year's no claims bonus and the premium has increased - nothing else has changed on the policy. You have to wait ours to get hold of their sales/cancelling department. Definitely not recommended!
22/03/2010 Absolutely dreadful service. Had a crash due to black ice just over a month ag. Have had to call churchill everyday as no-one will actually call back. Keep getting told days of which my car was going to be looked at (none of which were actually kept to) Manager was meant to call me back, never got one. Finally said to one person that I am contacting the ombudsman as nothing is being done on there part & got a reply of i had to give them an opportunity to do something (its been 4weeks) Car finaly looked at but would have to wait til the afternoon or next day for verdict, never got one. Called asking why I havent received one, answer being that my car is being looked at again (why?) and tht i wil get a call today or tomorrow. still no further
13/01/2010 I found their quote to be one of the most expensive around. If you are over 40 I suggest you try Tesco or Admiral, they were less than half the price quoted by Churchill.
11/03/2009 My stationary car was hit from behind by a van pushing me forward into another car. That was on 15-6-2008.The van drivers insurance company (NIG) admitted full liability to Churchill on 30-7-2008. Churchill offered me £300 as a write off value for my car. I refused to accept such a ridiculous figure, complained to the FOS , and Churchill then agreed to revalue at £700.
So What's my complaint? I spent over ten hours in phone calls costing over £50 trying to get them to actually part with the money.I registered many many complaints on their system and at the time of writing (11-3-2009) some nine months later I am still waiting for full payment. Almost every person I have spoken to on their endless supply of telephone numbers insist they can't actually alter what's on the screen or claim it's not their department. I have recorded a conversation with NIG stating that they admitted liability in full to "Charisse" at Churchill on30-7-2008. I'm still waiting for the final payment.
18/12/2008 I agree with other comments 'Very poor in dealing with claims.' I also spoke to a different person every time I contacted them and they were inconsistent with their advice. They don't appear to have a procedure in place for logging conversations or decisions made in respect of your claim and they flounder and put you on hold; at your expense as it is an 08 number. Every time I called they had anotherexcuse for not authorising the claim, none of which were correct. I had a loan car in the policy, no car has been forthcoming. My accident occured one month ago and i still havent been given the go ahead to get the work started ( waiting for engineer) maybe after Christmas ! I would not recommend Churchill to anyone and after my experience.
01/11/2008 Was a little miffed. Was looking for car insurance for young drivers and Yahoo directed me to Churchill's site. The page I ended up at just said why they would charge me more because I'm young. What was the point in that? They even had a page dedicated to women drivers insurance - but again, just information on why it might be cheaper, no real reason for the pages at all. Very strange and I thought very misleading.
28/10/2008 Very poor in dealing with claims. As a customer who had been with the company for fourteen years paying a fully comp rate I was disappointed in how my claim was handled. I spoke to a different person every time I contacted them and they were inconsistent with their advice. They don't appear to have a procedure in place for logging conversations or decisions made in respect of your claim and they flounder and put you on hold; at your expense as it is an 08 number. I stayed with them as I beleived them to be a reputable company; but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone after my experience.
24/10/2008 Would advise not to use these. Cut a long story short, my car was written off, it was not my fault so another insurance company paid all my claim to churchill. Churchill refused to give me the full claim money claiming the car had "modifications" to it. i bought the car brand new and did not modify it at all, i stated what model it was. they wanted me to pay over ?400 pound s back to them for not stating this. it seems having alloys on it meant the policy was 25% extra premium. the wheels are no bigger than normal size wheels. seems to me they are just trying to rip me off. will never insure with these cowboys again. also my parents will not be renewing their insurance. looks like its them that loose money in the long run.
23/10/2008 Front page was pretty clean and easy to navigate, with obvious links to different kinds of insurance. That bloody dog was gurning away at the top though, which nearly made me close the page there and then! Online quote form was quite short though they use those sorts of double-negative privacy questions that make it hard to know whether to tick or untick the box if you don't want to be spammed. Their quote was a lot higher than I've received from other companies, so I definitely won't be using them.
16/10/2008 Very disappointed. Churchill sets you up for a fall by having funny, relaxed advertising on the TV. But when you call, they are the most dour bunch of people you'll ever speak to! Ended up canceling the call and getting the quote online just to make sure the g*t on the other end of the line didn't get a commission. Quote was more than my renewal and I felt I would be paying for frivilous extras considering my car was only worth £900.
09/06/2008 Churchill's site asked for all the information typical of a home insurance quote, which gets a bit tedious when they're my quote number nine, but all the information is probably necessary. It was quite easy to miss the part where you could select for accidental damage within the cover as it was just a small box to tick. The policy itself seemed to be very comprehensive, with low excesses, and all this information was really easy to access and print out. The information was very clearly presented as well so that you could easily see all of the inclusions and exclusions.
07/06/2008 If you can cope with the stupid dog cartoon this is a reasonably well laid out site. The pages seem to load very slowly which is a bit of a problem (may be my PC though). The information is clear, and the pages set out clearly what is covered in say the breakdown insurance policy.
21/05/2008 A mid-priced quote for my car - BUT they charge over 21% for paying in instalments, unlike LV and Direct Line, so this really put me off. The quote process is simple, they barely ask anything, but the site itself is a bit jittery. Home insurance is grossly over-priced, and they charge a staggering 23% to pay in instalments. However, you do get a reduced rate on a Dog'!
