01/11/2008 Quote was reasonable but I had a really hard time understanding the policy. Up to £10 million pounds in medical expenses are covered, but only £600 for hospital stays ... does that make sense to anyone? I was going to call but the list of things I'd need to query was so huge (you can't even leave your golf clubs in your car?) I thinnk I'll just check out somewhere else.
22/10/2008 This website was down when I first visited it, but worked when I tried the next day. Their travel insurance quote form is simple though poorly designed - their text entry boxes need to be bigger. Go Travel Insurance's quote wasn't the cheapest I've had but it was at the lower end of the spectrum. They charge an additional £4.50 if you want a copy of your certificate posted to you, which seems steep but might be standard for all I know. They also require you to tick a box saying that you've read the "initial disclosure document" before you can proceed, but I couldn't find this document.
08/06/2008 Go gave the cheapest travel insurance quote by a mile from all the sites I found which offered backpackers annual insurance and I had no complaints at all. The quote was amazingly quick and there were only about 5 questions to fill in to get the price. There was also loads of information available on the policy and the company right from the very first page, so it was easy to find out what was included. If you wanted an even cheaper price it was also possible to remove baggage cover even though this would probably not be a smart option for me!
05/06/2008 This is a typical travel insurance site. If you want one of their standard packages, and its at a reasonable price, then its perfectly reasonable. If you want anything out of the ordinary (eg mountaineering cover) then use a more appropriate specialist site. I suppose that was the surprising part, they are a specialist travel insurer but only sell products you can buy from any general insurer.
20/05/2008 Do not rate this travel insurance site well! Easy to quote - as only one option available to me. High priced annual travel insurance. You have to search the site to find out what that includes, and whilst the level of cover is relatively high, it may be unnecessarily so for the average traveller. Reduce the cover and reduce the price I would say!
