27/09/2010 Customer service is abysmal, current waiting time when telephoning is at least 1/2 hr - far too long when you have a query and may be short of time. Email queries do not seem to get replies either. I will never use Hastings Direct again.

23/08/2010 cancelled a car policy with hastings as was told could add a driver at a latter date of which the details i gave.age,job etc at time of quote.turned out they wouldn't add a second driver due to age so i cancelled. I was spoken to like a piece of s**t by a rude female employee.eventually after an hour of bein on the phone a pleasent gentleman in accounts sorted my policy and refund in 2 minutes.why this couldn't be done in the first instance i dont know. unfortunately i hold a bike policy to with hastings.after 2 phone calls and 6 months i am still waiting for a reply to a question. I was sold extras to the policy for which after 2 attempts still havent recieved correct paper work to extras they sold me! english call centers,depressingly bad

28/07/2010 had a renewel off hastings,and have been trying to contact them for 4 days about it?? just wont answer the phone, not good service

23/07/2010 Have been insured by Hastings for the last 4 years on the same bike with no problem. Bought a new bike and wanted to insure them both until I sold the old one - huge headache. After spending hours and hours on hold over the last 2 weeks, they eventually insured them both but the old one with no NCB. Having tried to resolve over the last two weeks and getting nowhere I cancelled both policies today. They have charged my over £300 for 2 months cover on my old bike and tried to charge another £117 on the new one!!! They are a total shambles, takes forever to get through and when you do they don't do what they say, worst insurance company I've ever dealt with - steer well clear

08/06/2010 i found hastings insurance very good up to the point when i needed a copy of my insurance that seems to take them a long time to send it and i need it for work

01/06/2010 Sent renewal policy with incorrect details. Tried phoning and phoning and phoning (always on hold) emailed (got reply after one week) Did get hold of somebody at opening time (8am). Was going to phone me back (didn't). They were going to take payment without my approval even though I had not set up a direct debit (they had kept my card details for a year including security code). Yes, it's legal, but, I feel, unethical. Hoping I can cancel without them taking the money. They may be cheap but they are CHEAP! Not good value. Heaven knows what it would be like to make a claim!

24/05/2010 waiting 4 days now for documents, bike paid for.clothing brought,been on phone nearly an hour 1st time, 40mins 2nd time. fobbed off 3rd time `hastings direct` total jokers maybe they should get rid of the so called managers not the phone operators

27/04/2010 you can never get through on their various phone lines - am waiting for my proof of NCB which was promised nearly a month ago

21/04/2010 Hasting car insurance dontlook after their customers you recieve a letter and try to get in touch and you are waiting between 10-20 mins i would recomend you look else were,they did say sorry for the wait but i phoned at their busy time,so dontb phone in theese times (9am -12 pm or 12pm-8pm its closed any other time

03/11/2009 I had been insured for a couple of months when I changed my car. During the same phone call, I asked to pay off the whole years insurance in one go. They asked me for £106 pounds. I have just checked my bank statement and £21.30 has been taken every month. I called them and asked why and they said that I had not paid it all in one go, that I had only paid to change the vehicle!! So basically, it costs more to change your vehicle than it does to actually insure it in the first place. I will definitely be looking elsewhere to insure my car in the future...

02/09/2009 hi I have been insured with hastings for at least 3 years, I recently moved to Southern Ireland and cancelled hastings, my Irish Insurance needs proof of no claims, but despite many phone calls to Hastings they refuse to send to Ireland as we dont have a postcode here? ( yet before I moved here I enquired with hastings and they said no problem) eventually they agreed, but 3 weeks later still no letter, now I'm emailing them and will give another week and then I'm off to the Financial Omnibusman as they are duty bound to supply.

14/12/2008 hi i have ben with hastings direct for two years and have always payed in one lump sum. whist with them and having only three weeks left before my policy expires i purchased another vehicle which i tried to insure with them by changing policy details.They wanted ?£85 just for changing vehicle details even though new car was lower in isurance group and had thatcham apprved security. due to this i informed them that even tho i had fully paid up and my policy had few weeks left to expire i polietly requested my proof of ncb so that i could surrender my policy and go elsewhere they refused stating i would have to wait full period of policy renewal date before they would provide me my ncb.. bully boy tactics never insure with them again

02/11/2008 I found Hastings' car insurance quotation form easy to complete and very similar to others that I've used. I liked the fact that all their questions were on one page, so I didn't have to keep waiting for new pages to load. However, they required me to create a password just to get a quote, which I think is pointless. The quote I got from Hastings was astonishingly high: well over twice as much as the cheapest quote I've had. On this basis, I definitely would not consider buying insurance from them.
