07/09/2010 Hiscox are the worst i have come across, they are slow to act and even when they do they will try everything they can to wangle out of accepting liability

07/09/2010 I have had a claim in with Hiscox, since Jan 2009, they have never contacted me directly nor have they excepted liability and it is now Sept 2010. Their handling of the claim has been shocking, they have made me feel like a criminal, rather than the victim. Their whole attitude is they hope i will go away. They have contravened every rule under Treating Customers Fairly (TCF). They proport to be customer friendly , stating all claims will be handled quickly and efficiently. They have continuely delayed making any decision on my claim , coming up with rehashed questions, already answered.

04/02/2010 Big jump in premium this year. Almost double what I paid last year with no claims made. They say it's because of the business market being so treacherous right now. So, just another company charging us for the mess the country is in when it wasn't my fault.

04/02/2010 A little strange. I applied for insurance with them, got it, but then on phoning up to ask about increasing my coverage as I run a website (professional indemnity insurance) they said they would have to cancel my insurance and put me through a broker. How does that work? How is Hiscox insurance through a broker any different from the usual stuff?

16/11/2009 I was pleasantly surprised with the easy to use / simple product Hiscox site. I found it via GoCompare (having failed miserably with Confused.com). I need high end insurance. My current premium is due for renewal in 8 days but have only just received my renewal docs from my broker. Not good enough. The premium has gone up 5% "inflation" to a wopping £1,300 (how do they justify 5%). Gocompare could only offer 3 insurers as rest bottled out. Hiscox was one. I love the no-nonsense sensible house & contents policy and I can save £330. Well done Hiscox

23/09/2009 Thats because Hiscox are a premium insurance company catering for the top 2-5% net worth in the UK

22/10/2008 I didn't find Hiscox's site very accessible: the text is small and grey, making it hard to read. Their minimum home insurance cover is £60,000 so I had to go with that even though I only need around £20,000 of cover. Their online form is the shortest one I've filled in: it doesn't ask for any information about the security of the flat, whether it's been burgled before etc. But their quote was not at all competitive - it was over £200 more expensive than the cheapest quote I've had. I definitely won't be using Hiscox.
