27/08/2010 I purchased annual insurance with insure and go last year and, although did not need to claim nor speak to anyone was, impressed that they offered coverage for Asthma, something I always worry about when I am away with the change of climate. I thought the annual insurance was good value for money and DID reccomend them to friends. This year while taking my only out of business trip and not using my own credit card coverage, I decided to go back to insure and go.My quote for both of us was £30.17 and I went through the same questionaire as before. Only this time when I receved the email containing my documents, my certificate (4th down the list of attachements) states on the 2nd page 'not covered for asthma' the whole purpose of my chosing
09/08/2010 Don't even go there! What a lot of rubbish Insure and Go is. After having paid for their premium insurance for 3 years I eventually had to make two claims over three weeks or so. Both were (naturally?) denied The first was for a missed departure on a UK train. After having spoken to them three times, sent original travel documents, sent clarifications and more documents, they turned around and told me that they did not cover cost for missed UK trains caused by problems on the tube.... Second claim that was denied was for a pair of expensive sunglasses I lost in Italy. Guess what, even Insure and Go's premium insurance does not cover sunglasses.... Rubish company and lousy service!
04/08/2010 Had a policy for 5 years. Made a claim this summer for cancellation after a family member fell ill. I&G declined it. We fought them on it but they wouldn’t budge. I have lodged a complaint with them and shall be contacting the Ombudsman to pursue this further. I haven’t cancelled the policy yet as I need to wait for the outcome of the FOS ruling as I can imagine that I&G’s complaints procedure will come down on their side. However I see no point in keeping a policy that is essentially no use to me. I surmise that if they aren’t going to pay up in those circumstances that they are just rip-off merchants and would never pay out on any claim. Also they’re not all that cheap either. A quick visit to a comparison website highlighted a couple o
26/05/2010 we were also refused compensation by this excuse for an insurance company my advice use someoneone else
19/05/2010 Weather is a result of other natural forces, e.g gravity etc and also there is a link between volcanic activity and weather, e.g .reducing global temperatures, i am arguing Policy is not specific, that it was the weather that moved the cloud of ash and also moved away to allow flights to resume, even though volcano was still erupting - lets see how it goes1
17/05/2010 I have to add to the list of annoyed clients of insure and go, regards the volcanic ash. I phoned them on the first day and was told they WOULD insure us and even calculated the amount of money we could claim based on our re-scheduled flight.. they even sent the claim forms to our address for when we returned. At that time I thought they were great... On returning we completed all the paper work and provided the relevant letters regards delayed departure to then receive a letter informing that their underwriters were refusing to pay... needless to say I will push, this is discraceful.. surely the volcanic ash being blown into area is bad wheather. I'd love to legally challenge this one.. are we being scammed by this company?
17/05/2010 Insure & Go are of course disputing my travel delay claim ~ 8 days in Havana. I am arguing that their policy specifically covers poor weather conditions and that they are liable to pay the claim. I have found a helpful definition of weather on Wikipedia Weather is the state of the atmosphere as measured on a scale of hot or cold, wet or dry, calm or storm, clear or cloudy. On Earth, common weather phenomena include wind, cloud, rain, snow, fog and dust storms. Less common events include natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons and ice storms. Under this definition this cloud is effectively a dust cloud high in the atmosphere. I am now being processed as a formal Complaint case. i suspect a long battel ahead
12/05/2010 The only way to treat insure and go is to cancel your worthless policy anyone taking insurance from them want to read the reports how they have treated customers, shame on you I&G
12/05/2010 Insure and Go have rejected my "delay" claim after being stranded in Spain for six extra days by the volcano, but state that they pay out for poor weather conditions. Surely the fact that the problem was caused by a cloud and that cloud was blown over Britain by the wind constitutes a weather delay. Has anyone had a response from the Ombudsman or should I simply sue these cheats straight away?
11/05/2010 This company is definately not worth considering even after getting there Gold cover i thought this type of travel insurance would cover me. During my last few days in Mexico I had my Iphone pickpocketed, and after visiting a Mexican Police Station and getting the police report, i thought my worries of loosing something as important as an Iphone were coming to an end. Having spoken to Insure and Go they do not cover Mobile Phones at all. Normally they are the first company i turn too, but no more. As soon as i needed to claim they spit sections of there policy to you saying they are exempt. Note you don't get this policy till you signup and pay. If anyone even considers this company i STRONGLY recommend you get access to the policy.
11/05/2010 I have also had the same problem with Insure and Go and will never use them for insurance again. There underwriters have decided not to cover for Volcanic ash. However, the policy does not detail it will not cover for incidents such as this.
06/05/2010 I too was stranded in Thailand for two weeks. Returned to the UK yesterday, I just got off the phone with Insure and Go (found the lady I spoke to unhelpful, unsympathetic and condescending) and I have been informed that my travel insurance policy doesn't cover me for delays due to volcanic ash clouds. I urge everyone to make a claim and also complain to the Financial Obudsman service.
02/05/2010 Stranded in Thailand during volcanic ash incident my insurance with Insure and Go turned out to be completely useless - they refused to pay our delay money saying they don't cover volcano activity. One takes out travel insurance to cover eventualities and then finds there was no point bothering. I will never use them again and - apart from not paying to ciover the delay- they were also rude and unhelpful on the phone at a very difficult time.
01/05/2010 Insure and go have a general excusion which excludes cover for any consequence of any airline, tour company or other comapny UNWILLING OR UNABLE to deliver their service to you. In my view, this excludes any type of loss I would face. I have a platinum policy, I am going to challenge them because this is in breach of the unfair contract terms act 1997.
28/04/2010 I too very upset that my wonderful one-off holiday in Syria was cancelled due to volcanic dust problems. Nothing at all from Insure and Go. Will NEVER use them again and will tell everyone I know not to touch them. Despite their policy sounding very comprehensive, they have made a decision not to help anyone. Also very uncaring attitude when I rang in. Has anyone out there thought of challenging this in court? I cannot afford to but wonder if anyone has taken legal advice. Please advise if so.
26/04/2010 Insure and Go? Insure and Be Totally Dumped, more like. I will never use them again!
24/04/2010 i will never use this provider again!!, i was told even tho im not covered for volcano, cancellation etc but they will extend my medical insurance because of volcano, ermmm i think they have contradicted themselves, im going to see a solicitor when i get back home, this isnt right, i suggest every1 do the same, disgusted!
20/04/2010 I would NOT recommend Insure and Go to anyone. Due to the recent volcanic ash problem, I expected my holiday to be cancelled so I rang my insurer, Insure and Go. I was surprised to hear from the agent I spoke to that they are classing the problem as adverse weather and that I am covered should my cancellation be confirmed. Anyway, the following day I got the cancellation and then phoned Insure and Go again. This time they said I was not covered as its a colcanis eruption not adverse weather. I told them that I was advised they day before that I was covered and the woman on the phone very sheepishly told me their underwriters have instructed them NOT to class it as adverse weather. So ringing them to find out where I stood was a complete waste of time as they move the goal posts at their convenience. Please avoid using this company as they have no morals. Put your money into a company that has shown they do actually care about their customers. Search the net, there are plent of insurers that have excelled themselves under these extraordinary circumstances. Others, like Insure and Go have just shown their true colours.
19/04/2010 Flight cancelled due to volcanic dust cloud, expected to be able to claim for unused accomodation on insurance policy with insure and go. Told they are NOT covering for this event!! Most reputable travel insurance companies have stated they WILL payout to their customers..I and many others expected to be covered for something such as this, after all what is the point of buying travel insurance. There will always be some devious companies that will gladly take your money, then wriggle out of their obligations. Insure and go are one such company. Incidentally, the cost of the villa was £1200. I will now have to save for next years holiday and buy insurance from a reputable company..A very expensive lesson learned. DISGUSTED
08/03/2010 the worst insurance dont go near them they took £87 pound of my mothers money whilst on the phone taking out the insurance policy telephonist said that she had told me my mother wouldnt be insured for the many conditions that she had so why on earth would i take out an insurance policy like this its the way they word it be warned
29/12/2009 i m in tenerife right now.......insure n go are being awful.......rep hardly speaks english
20/11/2009 Insure and go are a joke - I was robbed in the south of France at the beginning of August of over £3000 worth of cash and valuables. The claim is still ongoing - I get fobbed off and lied to every time i ring. I cannot claim for the £1000 worth of cash that was stolen as i didnt have it stuffed down my bikini at the time of the robbery! I am still waiting to hear about the rest of my claim - i keep getting told 7 to 10 days. It is so frustrating. I feel like I am being penalised yet I was the victim. Insure and go dont give a toss. I would not recommend them to anyone.
01/11/2009 This is a shocking and cynical rip off. I was robbed on holiday in India. I lost £1,000 worth of the items that you would reasonably carry with you on a holiday: SLR camera + zoom lens, ipod, etc. I got a polict report and I do have all the original receipts for these items too. But after checking the policy small print, I see that it states that all these items count as "valuables", and insureandgo.com will only pay out a total of £200 for "valuables"!!! So I lose £800 already. Yet the policy states I can claim up to £1,500 for stolen baggage. Therefore I can still claim up to £1,300 for my non-valuable items (towel, toothbrush, ..). Who would keep receipts for these things? What a joke. This is bordering on fraud. I feel totally cheated.
25/09/2009 Just returned from Tennerife and a cyst developed behind my knee, resulting in two days in hospital, i informed insure and go when taking out the insurance my medical history including having an opperation for cartlidge in my knee the bill for the hospital £2,,ooo + £300.00 flight home insure and go refused to pay saying i had not disclosed an appointment i had to pain management guy, a one of visit which had nothing to dop with the cyst take my advice do not touch this company they should be on T.V,s watchdog program. The hospital informed me Insure and Go never pay out and advised me to always use the post office
15/09/2009 Having used this company for a number of years for sking and white water kayaking this latter involved camping. Our car was broken into as we slept next to it with cash and valuables being stolen. Insure and Go wouldn't touch this due to vehicle being left unattended!! We were sleeping 1metre away! Check out the small pring this company is nothing but a rip off!
18/08/2009 What a rip off insure and no go really are! I went on holiday to cyprus thinking my items were covered only to find when i genuinely lost my ipod which cost me £150.with reciepts to prove that they gave me a cheque back for only £10.38 ? When you go abroad on your dream holiday you put your trust in a company (not this one)that if anything happens then you are covered in full! They give you the old bull story about wear and tear, excess charges and take ages to reply as this situation took nearly 2 months just to be fobbed off with a cheque that ain`t even worth cashing in!
16/10/2008 Insure and Go claim to be the UK's largest direct selling travel insurance provider, though I've never heard of them before. I didn't find their drop-down calendar for choosing holiday dates very user-friendly - it would have been easier to enter dates directly. However, their quotes were very cheap: they offered me four quotes, each providing different levels of cover, and all were cheaper than I've had elsewhere. I'd be tempted to use them, but I'm put off by the fact that I don't know anything about them: might need to do some googling first to check out their reputation.
