01/10/2008 Uswitch is a broker rather than a direct provider. Their website says that they guarantee to beat your home insurance renewal quote, which is a very confident thing to say. The form makes clear upfront what risks they can't insure online, which is helpful. I did feel the form was a bit lengthy though, and included an awful lot of small print. When I got to the end of the form, it seemed to take a long time to generate my quote. The quote it finally got me was from Royal and Sun Alliance, but it wasn't cheaper than a quote I'd got elsewhere.
01/06/2008 Very easy to select from the home page for which product you wanted. There was access to all of the FAQs for each section of the quote form as well without needing to keep going to a separate page. Although this should have sped the process up the site tried to obtain details about when other types of insurance were due for renewal which was a bit tedious. Was able to create an account on the second page of the quote which meant that it was dead easy to find the same quote again after shopping round the other companies. Also the address field in the form was a bit annoying because every time you pressed the enter key instead of clicking on submit it unconfirmed the address and cleared the form.
21/05/2008 I found this site to be really well laid out. It is easy to do the comparisons you originally wanted and it also prompts you to consider other possibilities. Overall, I found it a well laid out site and a real strength is it easy to identify which category you wish to use. I also found it useful that there are two different ways to generate a set of comparative quotes. The simplest requires very little information so is great to quickly see what the main options maybe.
11/05/2008 Good site. Although I'm not sure why I need to remember the specific month and year I started driving - because I don't! Or the exact day I received 3 penalty points. They ask a LOT of specific questions; and still after searching 40 companies could not beat my current car insurance or gas and electric bills. Results are really easy to read though - and tells you what you will save if you switch, and for some companies will do it all for you online.
