07/09/2010 My colleague insured his car with Yes insurance then found himself with a bill of almost £400 when he sold his vehicle. This was called 'Short term rates' and 'Time on cover'.Dont fall for it there are better insurance companies without hidden charges.
14/06/2010 My insurance renewal went up from 500 last year to 2500 this year because they cancelled my protected no claims 3 years ago and say I only have 1yrs no claims. last week I bought a new car and although it was worth 30,000 more, the quote was 1700!!!!!! They have now admitted they were in the wrong and I should have 9yrs no claims but don't see that they owe me any money. The cheapest quote online was from YES at 700.
06/05/2010 Ihad a years car insurance policy with YES. Halfway through i changed cars and upsated the policy - all fine. 6 weeks after my policy ended and i had changed insurer, Yes contacted me to advise i owed them more money (I no longer even had a policy with them!) because their system had under-caclculated my quote - 8 months before! When i refused to pay, they threatened to pass me on to bailiffs. The phone person was not the least surprised by the situation - you would expect them to be; offered to halve the amount straight away, and very quick to threaten debt collection. Only when i threatened consumer watchdogs / ombudsman etc did they back down.
17/03/2010 Yes insured my car from Feb 09 - Feb 10. They wrote to me near to the policy expiring and quoted me twice as much as i could get elsewhere. I called them up to confirm cancellation and they said they would need to take the money from my acount and then refund it which i wasnt comfortable with. I then rang and asked them to send me proof of no claims which they did however i have just been informed they never credited the £1100 back into my account. I am so angry with YES. If they were renewing my policy they should have sent me a insurance certificate or at least confirmation. In my view this is theft / fraud so if they refuse to reimburse me i will contact the police and trading standards. Never ever use YES for insurance.
03/03/2010 They raised the monthly direct debit by £21! I'm not sure why, as I haven't made any claims. Are they the same morons who run Yes Car Credit?!
30/01/2010 I have had a policy with yes insurance for a few years, and had been reasonably satisfied with their service. Until today that is. Having sold my car I no longer required the policy. Having waited a combined 30 minutes for their customer services to be bothered to answer the phone I was informed that it would be more expensive by some £40 to cancel a policy that has 5 months left to run. Yes, but only if you feel like being abused.
02/10/2009 I have discovered I have insurance with them, but only when I queried a debit on my Visa card. When I queried it, they told me they had written to me and sent papers to me, at an address I moved from 2+ years before, but if I wanted to cancel they wanted two months pro rata (not unfair) PLUS £50 extra as I would have only had "short term insurance" and a further £50 cancellation charge. They have charged me £235 compared to £145 from go compare or comparethemarket.com. RESULT ; I have taken out insurance elsewhere, advised Yes Insurance, raised a dispute with Barclaycard (insisting on a 100% refund)and then will see where they want to go with this. Customer "service" was rude, aggressive and simply awful
06/08/2009 Ive been with yes for a few yrs and recently changed vehicle with them so asked for my insurance to be swapped over to my new car, the insurance price they gave me was £210 more than the cheapest quote i could find on the compare sites, even there own company came up as £140 cheaper. When asked over the phone if there's anything they could do about that or if they could quote again they replied that that was the cheapest they could find and they couldnt search or tell me if they had searched any of the companies id found to be cheaper. They did say i could cancel my policy which would cost me £170 as i was only 4mnt into it. So if i cancelled, paid £170, started with a new company id still be better off than paying there premium. extortionate
30/04/2009 Just read the guidelines and it seems that you cant say anything bad about yes no point in reviews then.Dont worry I will be spending the next week posting my bad reviews on line to every platform and advising people what you do and how desperate you are to get money. You should not be allowed to call yourselves insurance agents.
06/10/2008 I found this website a little bit weird - maybe it was just my browser, but I wasn't able to click on any of the links on the main page. Instead I had to use the small links at the top of the page, which were less obvious. Odd. Anyway, their quotation form was pretty standard and easy to understand. It took longer than I'd have liked to generate my actual quote, and when it did I wasn't too impressed - it was well over the cheapest quote I've had from other providers, so I wouldn't consider using them.
21/06/2008 The pet insurance quote was amazingly quick and offered you a price after only answering about three questions. Then it gave two options depending on how much cover you actually thought you needed, and both options seemed quite good. Couldn't actually find the full policy wording anywhere though, not sure if you get that when you actually take out the policy, as I chose not to. Excesses seemed pretty expensive as well, although that was probably because the actual quote itself was quite cheap.
15/06/2008 I liked some aspects of this website. It clearly labels the main options and usefully flags up the option of short term insurance to cover specific needs. On the negative side, I really did not like the series of "jolly" cartoons. I personally do not find this makes buying insurance any more pleasurable or interesting so find it rather offputting.
03/05/2008 This is a good one! Bright site and I liked it straight away. And they offer pet insurance which is a plus for me. It is essentially another comparison site. Quote was easy to do. And it gave me the cheapest quote yet, with a company called Advantage, who I am not really aware of. This puts me off a little, and you may prefer to pay the extra £30 to go with a name that you know ... I probably will.
